Have you heard about or experienced the benefits of CBD? Cannabidiol — CBD — is a cannabis compound that boasts medical benefits, without the psychoactivity, or “stoned” experience, of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol). The Spa at the Vail Vitality Center is offering a new CBD massage treatment this season using medicinal hemp oil.
“Cannibinoids are the chemical compounds within the cannabis plant that are reported to relieve a variety of ailments,” shares Lisa DeKoster with the Spa. “Cannabinoids replicate endocannabinoids — compounds our bodies naturally produce to balance and control communication between cells. Researchers believe that unpleasant symptoms and diseases occur when a deficiency or problem affects the endocannabinoid system.”
By nature, explains DeKoster, CBD compounds permeate the cell wall and impact the many systems in the body that affect inflammation, cramping, pain, and neurological issues, just to name a few.
The CBD massage at the Vail Vitality Center is specifically designed to relieve inflammation, as well as pain and muscle cramping.
“We are always searching for therapeutic ways to relieve muscle soreness and pain,” shares DeKoster. “The research is very extensive on CBD and the health benefits of using it on a regular basis.”
The treatment is especially beneficial after increased activity in the mountains — from skiing or snowshoeing, working out hard with a personal trainer, or trying a new activity for the first time. Guests will experience a deeper sense of relaxation and relief from muscle soreness, chronic pain, and nerve pain.
“We recommend it especially to guests that let us know they are experiencing pain or muscle soreness,” says DeKoster. “However, it positively affects so many systems in the body that anyone will benefit from a massage with CBD.”
So far, DeKoster says guests have loved the treatment.
“The response is extremely positive,” she shares. “Most of our guests purchase the CBD salve or oil after their treatment for home care.”
